    1940-2004
    Villard Denis, also known as Davertige, was a Haitian poet and painter. Born in Port-au-Prince, Denis grew up in Haiti but later moved to Paris, France, where he lived for several years. By 1960, he had become well known as a poet and painter. His first writings appeared in a collection entitled Idem. His work was strongly influenced by the painter max Pinchinat in 1956. Denis' paintings have been exhibited in Haiti, Mexico, Spain, France, and Canada. His art is scarce to find in the art marketplace.
